About Exeter Library
Exeter Library offers a mountain of resources for children to enjoy reading and help with their homework. There are thousands of books about space, sport, cars, cooking, fairies, families, poetry, ponies, maths, music and much much more. We have books to listen to, books to read and DVDs to watch.
There is a large children’s library with a separate teen area, as well as 34 computers which are free to use for up to 2 hours per day as well as printing and copying facilities.
What we offer to schools:
- borrow 20 books (usual allowance 12) including non-fiction curriculum related books as well as fiction and Beginner Reads
- borrow Story Sacks, large picture books with props such as puppets and soft toys to tell the story to your Early Years and KS1 classes: Very Hungry Caterpillar, Mr Magnolia, Lighthouse Keeper’s Picnic
- Class visits. Bring your class for an hour’s visit to explore the library
- Book in for Fab Lab workshops for a smaller number of children. Check the Fab Lab website for details
- Assemblies. Library staff visit your school to promote Summer Reading Challenge in KS or whole school assemblies
Regular children’s activities include Build and tech with Lego Club on the last Monday of the month, Code Club every other Thursday and Pi Jam first Saturday of the month. Booktrack is a reading reward scheme to read any 100 library books, and receive badges, stickers and a certificate along the way.
For summer 2019 we have many events, including Exmoor Zoo, The Dog’s Trust and Paddleboat Theatre helping us celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge.
