TeachOut sponsors the teamwork award at the Young Enterprise Devon finals
Team TeachOut had a fantastic evening at the Young Enterprise Devon final last week – we were extremely proud to be sponsoring the Teamwork award. This was a lovely opportunity for us to catch up with all the teams and to see how their products had progressed since the previous round.
It sounds like a cliché, but I was really moved by the infectious energy and optimism radiating from each and every team member, and the strong friendships that have formed between them. With a theme of sustainability, in a week where climate change is at the forefront of many people’s minds, it was fascinating to hear the stories behind their products – often evolving and adapting to keep their carbon footprints as small as possible.
The achievement of the teams’ place in the regional finals was a testament to the dedication of both the mentors, who offered business-related advice to develop each product, but also the teachers of those schools who gave up their time to support their students in progressing through the competition.
We thought all the products were brilliant and we were just glad that we didn’t have the task of judging! In our eyes, everyone who got to the final are winners and we hope that the teams who didn’t win recognise their achievements and carry on developing their products.
We handed over the Teamwork award to Everocean from The Maynard School, Exeter, for their sturdy, eco-friendly and reusable water bottle made from sugarcane. The overall winner was Protect, the team from Plymouth High School for Girls, for their ethical and eco-friendly jewellery.
